How do the fonts work?

This product is not really a program. It is a set of fonts to be used with other applications. Once these fonts are installed they can be used in any program such as word processing or graphics programs. Simply access the font list and you will see the new fonts appear with the existing fonts from before. You may use large sizes for better display. You may use as many fonts in a document as you wish. However, when using the picture fonts such as Abc Apple, it will take more memory from the system. If you experience problems printing, PRINT ONLY ONE PAGE AT A TIME.

Do I need a special printer?

No! Any Windows or Mac compatible printer will support the use of these fonts.

Is installation easy?

Yes! Follow the instructions listed on our SUPPORT page for the system you are using. Before you install the fonts, make a copy of the disk. Store the original in a safe place. Use the copy to install the fonts on your hard disk.

What the are system requirements?

Macintosh system requirements:

• Macintosh computer, including SE, Classic, LCfamily, Portable,
• PowerBook,Performa, Quadra and Power Macintosh
• 4 MB of RAM for Apple System Software
• Hard disk
• Laser printer, dot matrix or ink jet printer supported by Macintosh

Windows system requirements:

• Personal computer using 386 or faster processor
• Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later
• 4 MB of RAM for Windows 3.1
• Hard disk
• Laser printer, dot matrix or ink jet printer supported by Windows

Can I share these fonts with my friends?

With the single user license, you are allowed to use the fonts at school AND at home but not to share them with other teachers or friends. A school site license allows all teachers at the school site to use the fonts at school and at home. Other friends should purchase their own copy of the fonts. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ILLEGAL COPIES OF THIS SOFTWARE. The software you are using was produced through the efforts of many people: designers, artists, distributors, retailers and other dedicated workers. DownHill Fonts is committed to quality products and good design. Properly purchasing and licensing the fonts will support this effort.

What about D'Nealian and other fonts?

Our Abc DN Manuscript collection of six fonts (regular, with lines, with dots, with lines and dots, with lines dots and arrows, and with arrows) compares with the D'Nealian* Style. Very soon will be available for downloading!

Windows

System Requirements

• Personal computer using 386 or faster processor.
• Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later version (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows NT and windows XP).
• At least 4 MB of RAM for Windows 3.1
• A CD-ROM player.

Manual Installation of Fonts in Windows:

Part I

1. Please log in to our website using your E-mail address, and the password you made when you created this account.
2. After following step a, go to your account; instead of choosing the download for windows choose the download for Mac.
3. Although you are choosing a different operating system; please do not worry it will not affect your computer at all.
4. Once you choose the link for Mac, please save it into your desktop. The next thing that should be appearing in your desktop should be a folder which is compressed.( This can look like a folder with a zipper on it.

Part II

1. On your desktop, right click anywhere in your folder and got to option "New folder". Name this folder Fonts4Teachers and keep it that way.
2. After following step A on part II, you are now going to open that uncompressed zipped folder.
3. Once you get that folder to open by either double clicking on it (right) it will allow you to view the fonts in that folder. Following from here, you are going to copy and paste all of this fonts into the "Fonts4Teachers folder" the new one you made on your desktop. (Please note: although you copy and paste the fonts you may still see the fonts on your uncompressed zip folder, please do not be alarm its o.k.)
4. After you have copy and paste all the fonts from the uncompressed zip folder to the new folder you made on your desktop Follow the instructions in this document: How to install Fonts in Vista

Please note to this second steps that will help you when installing the fonts into your computer. >>>>> Under drives, make sure you choose drive C and not D.

Please also note that when looking in the folder you to go to as follows.

1. C:// Open this folder
2. Go to your desktop > open this folder
3. Look for the new folder " Fonts4Teachers"

Make sure once the fonts appears you select them all, and then you either press install or o.k.

Printers

• Virtually any printer supported by Windows (dot matrix, ink jet, color or laser printers).

Macintosh

System Requirements

• Macintosh computer, including SE, Classic, LC family, Performa, Quadra, Portable, PowerBook, iMac and Power Macintosh including G3 and G4.
• Mac OS 6.05 version and later, including Mac OS X.
  
• At least 4 MB of RAM for Apple System Software.
• A CD-ROM player.

Printers

• Virtually any printer supported by Apple (dot matrix, ink jet, color or laser printers).

Installation Instructions

1. Add fonts in Mac OS 9 and Classic within Mac OX
2. Quit all open applications. Insert the Fonts4Teachers CD-ROM disk into your Macintosh
3. Double-click on the Fonts4Teachers Disk icon. See Picture 1(a)
4. Double-click on the Fonts4Teachers folder. See Picture 1(b)
5. Double-click on the Mac HD icon to open it up. See Picture 2 (a)
6. Click once on the Fonts4Teachers Window to make it active (it will turn dark). See Picture 2 (b)
7. Go to the Edit menu and choose Select All. See Picture 2 (c)
8. Drag and drop the fonts into the System 9 folder (be careful! Look for the System 9 folder, the one with a "9" inside. Don't get confused with the System X folder). See picture 3 When you let go of the mouse, a dialog box asks if you want to put the fonts where they belong. Click continue (several times, since you are installing 31 fonts!). See picture 4
9. Remove the Fonts4teachers CD.

Add fonts in Mac OX

1. Quit all open applications. Insert the Fonts4Teachers CD-ROM disk into your Macintosh
2. Double-click on the Fonts4Teachers Disk icon. See Picture 1(a)
3. Double-click on the Fonts4Teachers folder. See Picture 1 (b)
4. Double-click on the Mac HD icon to open it up. See Picture 2 (a)
5. Double click on the Library folder to open it up. See picture 2 (b)
6. Click once on the Fonts4Teachers Window to make it active (it will turn dark). See Picture 3 (a)
7. Go to the Edit menu and choose Select All. See Picture 3 (b)
8. Drag and drop the fonts into the Library Fonts folder. See Picture 3(c)
9. Remove the Fonts4teachers CD

Windows 95, Windows 98, WindowsMe, Windows 2000 Installation

1. Start Windows. Insert the Fonts4teachers CD-ROM into your computer.
2. From the Start menu, click Settings-Control Panel. See Picture 1 (a,b,c).
3. Double-click on the Fonts folder icon to open it. See Picture 2
4. On the File menu, click Install New Font. See Picture 3 (If the Install New Font option located in the File menu of the Fonts folder is missing (Windows Me and Windows 2000), please refer to the Troubleshooting section, on page 31).
5. Select the drive from the Drives: menu. Click the drive where your CD-ROM resides (Drive "c:" is always the hard drive; Drive "a:" is always the floppy diskette. None of these drives are the CD-ROM drive. If you are not sure which one is your CD-ROM drive, try first Drive "d:"; later on Drive "e:", and so on, until you find the drive where your CD-ROM resides). See Picture 4 (a)
6. In Folders:, double-click the fonts4teachers folder. See Picture 4 (b). Now you will see a list of 31 fonts under the List of fonts:. See Picture 4 (c) (Be sure that you REALLY double-click on the fonts4teachers folder and that you WAIT a few seconds until the computer retrieves all the fonts. The first one is called "Abc Alegria").
7. In List of fonts:, click the font you want to add. To add all of the listed fonts, click Select All, and then click OK. See Picture 4 (d,e)
8. Close the window. See Picture 4 (f)
9. Remove the Fonts4teachers CD-ROM.

Windows XP Installation

1. Start Windows. Insert the Fonts4Teachers CD ROM into your computer.
2. From the Start menu, click Control Panel, and then double-click. See Picture 1
3. Double-click on the Fonts folder icon to open it. See Picture 2 (If you see Pick a category instead of the Fonts folder, click on Switch to Classic View on the left menu. See Picture 3 Once you switch to Classic View, a few folders will show up. Look for the Fonts folder icon and double-click on it to open it up. See Picture 2
4. On the File menu, click Install New Font. See Picture 4
5. Select the drive from the Drives: menu. Click the drive where your CD-ROM resides (Drive "c:" is always the hard drive; Drive "a:" is always the floppy diskette.
